The Advanced Manufacturing
Consortium in partnership with the Ohio MEP presents …
ISO 50001 & Superior Energy Performance
A Strategic Approach to Energy Management
December 8, 2015 -
Archbold, OH
Overview
The ISO 50001 energy management standard is a proven international
framework for industrial and commercial facilities, to manage all aspects of
their energy footprint —including procurement and use. Similar in nature to
the ISO 9000 Quality Standard and the ISO 14000 Environmental Standard, more
than 7,300 sites worldwide achieved ISO 50001 certification by May 2014. The
growth of ISO 50001 is expected to accelerate as an increasing number of
companies integrate its principles into their overall corporate strategy.
Superior Energy Performance™ (SEP) is the US DOE’s energy management
system built on the ISO 50001 framework. Industrial facilities adopting SEP
are reducing their energy costs by 10% within 18 months of achieving
certification to the ISO 50001/SEP standards. Facilities that pursue
certification to ISO/SEP achieve an attractive return on investment while
enhancing their sustainability. This conclusion is based on detailed
accounts from US manufacturers that have already implemented ISO 50001 and
SEP.
The ½-day seminar will introduce the participants to both ISO50001 and
SEP with particular emphasis on the business case for considering making
these systems part of their corporate strategy. In addition, the Ohio Office
of Energy will describe available financial assistance for facilities
implementing either energy management system .
